Initial unemployment claims dropped for the second week in a row, albeit only slightly. Although the decrease is small percentagewise, it was all that was needed to keep continuing claims on its new trend of around 140,000; likewise, it was enough to drop the insured unemployment rate back below two percent(which is the ratio of continuing claims to the total workforce covered by unemployment insurance).
